Baldi’s Basics at first glance looks like a normal learning game, with a school setting and a seemingly simple task: locate 7 forgotten notebooks to help your friend. However, as soon as you enter the hallway, things start to get strange.
Teacher Baldi always appears with the slogan “Welcome to my schoolhouse!”, but his eyes and the way he follows you make the atmosphere more tense than a normal classroom.
How to play Baldi’s Basics
Players will move with WASD, use the mouse to look around, shift to run (but be careful not to lose stamina), and use space to look back. Each time you find a notebook, you have to solve math problems quickly. Answer all three questions correctly, and you will receive a reward like a shiny quarter to use in special situations.
But if you answer incorrectly, Baldi will start to “get angry.” The sound of the ruler serves as a warning that he is approaching.
Weird Rules
In school, there are a series of rules: no running, no eating, no entering the teacher's room, no breaking the fourth wall... If you break these rules, the principal will catch you and place you in temporary detention. This makes it even easier for Baldi to catch up with you.
In addition, the hallways are full of other strange characters:
- The girl who skips rope keeps asking you to play with her.
- The broom "Gotta Sweep" suddenly rushes in and sweeps everything away.
- The bully demands that you give him an object.
- All of this makes the search for the 7 notebooks chaotic and unpredictable.
The ultimate goal
Only when you collect all 7 notebooks can you find your way out of the school. But just when you think you're about to escape, the game changes the exits, turning the hallways into endless mazes. It feels like every effort can be ruined in a split second.
Baldi’s Basics is a mix of simple math game and high-pressure chase. It initially seems like educational software, but the more you play, the more you realize it is a survival challenge in a strange school environment where every step can lead to failure.
